Collabnet, primary sponsor of Subversion development, together with partner elego, hosted the Subversion 1.6 Preview Summit on February 24th and 25th, 2009 in preparation for the coming release of Subversion. Release Candidate 3 of Subversion 1.6 is currently available.

 

At the events in Berlin and Munich, SVN committers introduced new functionalities of the coming version 1.6, and outlined a possible Roadmap to Subversion 2.0. These presentations are available here for download.

 

Guest speakers, including Open Source pioneer and Apache co-founder Brian Behlendorf, Subversion users Nico Schelleingerhout (Philips Healthcare) and Andre van de Gejin (NXP Semiconductor) shared visions for the future, as well as insight gained through practical experience.

 

Also well-received by participants were presentations illustrating the use of diverse Subversion add-ons and a talk describing experiences gathered in various migration scenarios.

 

The final round table discussion gave the participants the opportunity to question committers on an especially diverse range of topics, giving rise to a lively exchange of ideas.
