Subversion Conference 2008

A well-attended Subversion Conference 2008 is now behind us, and the people at elego were thrilled by the high level of participation shown by exhibitors and audience members in numerous presentations.

More participants attended our “Project Automation Based on Subversion” conference than were expected. A great deal of excitement and interest was shown concerning the possibilities for achieving process automation exclusively with open source tools and in forward-looking approaches toward seamless integration of commercial and open source tools on the basis of an open and tool-independent process metamodel.

"Of course we contribute to Subversion" was one of the open admissions made by elego at the conference for open source development. On the first evening of the conference, three of our SVN commiters also took part in the parallel-held SVN Developer Summit and the truly enthralling Subversion-Roundtable.

At the elego stand, visitors were able to inform themselves about OSCAR, an integrated ALM-platform comprised completely of open source tools, which will be available for download as a VMware in the near future.

Last but not least, the elego presentation on “Tree Conflict Handling in Subversion 1.6 and Beyond” cannot escape mention. The presentation was held by Stephen Butler and Stefan Sperling, and roused a great deal of interest among organizations managing a high number of parallel developing strategies, thus dealing with the still problematic related use cases relevant to Subversion 1.5.

A good deal of enthusiasm was also exhibited for the above mentioned metamodel-based tool integration system, especially as this open approach can be used to secure sophisticated demands for a comprehensive tool and platform integrative CM.

All of the presentations given at the conference, as well as the open source solution films shown there, can be found in our download area.

Many thanks once more to all those who visited the elego workshop, the presentations and our exhibition stand. We would be very pleased to see you in the future, either at the Subversion Conference 2009 or any time before that.
